Sergei Polunin, "Take Me to Church" by Hozier, Directed by David LaChapelle http://balletnews.co.uk/sergei-polunin-take-me-to-church-by-hozier-directed-by-david-lachapelle/

“Proving very popular, this video showing ex- Royal Ballet Principal dancer Sergei Polunin was recently released on YouTube. The video is beautiful. The choreography by Jade Hale-Christofi is spectacular and shows off Polunin’s strengths as a dancer, and the unusual setting adds another layer of interest. Is Polunin foot perfect? I’m not so sure. But it doesn’t matter. The film is – deservedly – a digital hit because it combines a number of key elements so often lacking in ballet videos.”

That was fun! And Noah Wyle was seriously channeling Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor in the regeneration mini-episode.
To heck with informative podcasts. *This* is my cooking soundtrack today.

EDIT: well, shoot. No embedding this video on LJ, I guess. Direct link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oUEVrjSxS4

"I think a law clerk told me about this Tumblr," Ginsburg, who always seems to get a kick out of her Internet celebrity, explained. "And also explained to me what 'Notorious R.B.G.' was a parody on. And now, well my grandchildren love it and I try to keep abreast of the latest that's on the Tumblr."

"I have quite a large supply," she added."

Ten years ago, I did the Chicago Marathon and my sister followed me around the course all day, hopping trains and cheering me on. Yesterday, I did the same for a friend who flew in from California. It was awesome! I was able to wave my sign and cheer at her at nine points during the run. According to my Fitbit, I walked 6.5 miles just from going from train to course and finding a good cheering spot and back to the train to the next place, so I got my own workout. The weather was perfect most of the day, the trains were frequent, and the mood was fantastic.
'WKRP in Cincinnati' is getting a DVD release with its original music. http://music-mix.ew.com/2014/09/15/wkrp-in-cincinnati-dvd-soundtrack/

"On Oct. 28, Shout! Factory will release the first complete series-spanning WKRP DVD set, with its original soundtrack gloriously restored. (Orders through the Shout! Factory site get early delivery on Sept. 23.) The 13-disc set will include not only new bonus features (including a 2014 panel discussion with members of the cast and crew), but actual songs by a staggeringly broad range of artists including Captain Beefheart, Elvis Costello, the Rolling Stones, Luther Vandross, Ray Charles, the Sir Douglas Quintet, and Huey Lewis & the News. Somewhere in sitcom heaven Johnny Fever and Venus Flytrap are exchanging cool ’70s-hipster handshakes.

Here’s a more or less complete list of acts from the soundtrack:"

Back for one of my sporadic LJ visits and I see I no longer have the option of staying with the old layout. But why is it all defaulting to Spanish ("Iniciar sesión")? And why does the sidebar with all my helpful links disappear when I'm working on a post?

EDIT: Ooh, I see. The minimalist layout only happens if I go directly to a filter before logging in. If I go to http://bentleywg.livejournal.com/ first, my good ol' useful layout is back. Yay!

Something I see more and more is comments about how children won't be able to understand movies that have rotary dial phones, etc., etc. Yet somehow, when we were kids, we understood old movies that showed switchboards or had phones you had to crank to get the operator's attention. Are kids these days really that much dumber than we were?
